With a population of 1,076,438 (2014 census), Kazmi serves as an important [[Wikipedia:Port|port]] and commercial center. It is situated in a [[Wikipedia:Subtropics|subtropical zone]] and the area is rich in agricultural produce such as citrus fruit and tea. While industries of the city include [[Wikipedia:Shipbuilding|shipbuilding]], [[Wikipedia:Food processing|food processing]], and [[Wikipedia:Manufacturing|light manufacturing]], most of its economy revolves around tourism. Being a [[Wikipedia:Seaside resort|seaside resort]], it is a popular tourist destination known for its warm weather.

Kazmi is a [[Wikipedia:Global city|global city]] and a center for [[Wikipedia:Diplomacy|diplomacy]] due to the presence of the [[International Union for Telecommunication]] and several consulates.

==History==
Kazmi has been built on the ruines of an ancient [[Wikipedia:Vedic period|Vedic civilisation]]. The earliest archaeological deposits recovered in the area are dated to ca. 1400 BCE, constituting a series of post holes in association with ceramic sherds and ash. During the [[Wikipedia:Achaemenid Empire|Achaemenid period]], an iron-working industry was developed in the area and the inhabitants used ceramics that are typical for this period at the western shore of the Nuran Sea.

Kazmi is first mentioned in an official document dating to 1010. In 1592, the city came under the rule of the Sultan of Gandhara. In the Gandhari Empire, Kazmi enjoyed a high degree of autonomy as [[Wikipedia:City-state|city-state]]. This special status ended when the [[Al-Mansur dynasty]] was founded in 1878. Kazmi became a part of the [[Bazegha Governorate]], becoming its capital in 1901.

During the [[Almaranian War of Liberation]], Kazmi was shortly occupied by Almaranian forces. The city flourished during the second half of the 20th century, experiencing a rapid growth in population and becoming a popular tourist destination.

Kazmi is situated on the western coast of Nuran Sea, 2–3 metres above [[Wikipedia:Sea level|sea level]]. The city extends about 14 kilometres from the north-east to the south-west.

The city's climate is heavily influenced by the onshore flow from the Nuran Sea and is subject to the [[Wikipedia:Orography|orographic effect]] of the [[Hare Krishna]] mountains, resulting in significant rainfall throughout most of the year.

Winters tend to be mild, while summers can be hot, with high temperatures in excess of +40 °C (104 °F).  January is the coldest month with an average temperature of 9 °C (48 °F). August is the hottest month, with an average temperature of 24 °C (75 °F). The absolute minimum recorded temperature is −4 °C (25 °F), and the absolute maximum is 42 °C (108 °F). The city receives 1,958 hours of sunshine per year.

As of 1 January 2014, Kazmi counts 1,076,438 inhabitants, making it the third largest city of Gandhara. The city saw a considerable growth during the second half of the 20th century, due to migration of people from rural areas to cities.

Although there is no religious data available separately for Kazmi, the majority of the region's inhabitants are [[Wikipedia:Sunni Islam|Sunni Muslim]] or [[Wikipedia:Eastern Orthodox Church|Eastern Orthodox Christian]].
