Haven, officially referred to as the The Holy City of Haven is a city state kingdom, made up of a huge floating city north of Sunetti.
Haven is considered an hermit kingdom, mostly known for it's religious beliefs, advanced naval technologies and it's floating city, the only one in Internatia. The population of Haven is around 750 000, and with this relatively large population for a small city, the population density is really high. 100% of the population live in the floating city.
History
Once part of an ancient empire, only the floating City of Haven remains. Havenian legends say that a huge civil war almost destroyed pre-Havenian civilization and the floating city was given by the almighty Ahura to protect the survivors from destruction. Those who survived dedicated their lives to worship Ahura, who gave them food, shelter and a city who will protect believers forever.
A hermit nation for many years, foreigners were forbidden to enter the holy city and a huge naval fleet prevented any foreigners from invading the holy city. The City is currently floating on the Granda Ocean north of Sunetti. There are rumors that Haven can be lifted in the sky and float above the ocean but nobody living today can confirm this rumor.
Politics
Today, Haven is an absolute monarchy, ruled by a monarch supported by the Holy Church of Ahura. Even if Haven is not a democracy, every havenian monarch decisions were made for the common good and for the well being of every havenian. Because the Ahuran faith promote science, technology and cooperation, havenians don't consider their rulers as despotic and authoritarians. Monarchs don't act like despots because it is forbidden by Ahuran faith. Despotism create unhappiness and create chaos. Only faith, science and order can prevent chaos from destroying Haven again. Haven doesn't need a secret police because repression is pointless because monarchs are children of Ahura and their duty is to lead according to Ahura's teaching.
Since the coronation of Queen Sophia, she asked havenians to elect the best citizens who will help here rule mighty Holy City. This private council will help Queen Sophia finding new ideas to improve Haven and solve problems plaguing Haven, which is overpopulation and diplomatic isolation.
Military
Havenians are proud of their navy, one of the most powerful in Internatia. The only purpose of the naval fleet is to protect Haven from every invasion and to destroy enemies before their reach city gates. Haven is a floating fortress with impressive anti-air defenses to eliminate attackers trying to destroy the city. Even if Haven is an advanced military nation, there are no plans or desires to invade another country. War is chaotic, unpredictable and dangerous so no havenian ruler will agree to a military invasion.
Floating City
It's origins are unknown and most havenian legends say that Haven was given by Ahura as a fortress of peace in exchange for unconditional worship. It's mechanics and technologies are confidential and havenians won't hesitate to kill themselves instead of revealing these secrets to foreigners.
Ahuran Faith
Every havenian is a member of the Holy Church of Ahura, the only faith in Haven. Ahura is an ancient god who rescued ancient havenians and gave them the holy city in exchange for worship. Ahura is the protector of Haven and the God of knowledge. Ahura faith order believers to promote peace, order and science. No other religions are allowed in Haven because havenians believe there is only one true faith and Ahura alone must be worshipped. It is forbidden to foreigners to promote another religion and if someone is foolish enough to do it, the only outcome is death.
