The Forum Eurovision Song Contest 2016 will be the 9th annual regular Forum Eurovision Song Contest. The contest will take place in London, United Kingdom following Years & Years' win in the 2015 contest with the song "King". This will be the first time that the United Kingdom will host an edition of FESC.

With the exception of the host country, the rest of the participating countries will be divided into 2 semifinals. Twelve songs from each semifinal will qualify to the final, which combined with the host entry will produce a 25 song final.

Location

Following Years & Years' win in FESC 2015 with "King", the British Broadcasting Service (BBC) brought the contest to the capital of the United Kingdom: London.

The venue for the Forum Eurovision Song Contest 2016 has yet to be decided. A formal announcement of the venue is expected to be made in the fall of 2015.

Format

On 1 September 2015, the BBC published the rules for FESC 2016. The format of the show remained largely similar to past editions with some alterations.

Each country continued to have a national jury which was obliged to vote in the semifinal that the country had been drawn into. Should the country qualify to the final, the national jury would once again be required to vote to prevent the nation from being disqualified, and all points taken away. However, voting in the other semifinal, or voting in the Grand Final as a non-qualified nation remained optional, though encouraged.

The main differences that FESC 2016 would have compared to the 2015 edition came from the announcement of semifinal qualifiers. Like previous editions, the top 10 ranked countries in each semifinal would continue to automatically advance to the final.

However, the BBC chose to use the votes of the countries which were not participating in a particular semifinal (commonly referred to as the "International Jury") to select two additional qualifiers to the Grand Final in lieu of merely awarding points equal to one participant in the semifinal. This was done as a response to the increased growth of the popularity of the contest which resulting in larger semifinals, and was first introduced with DR's hosting of FESC Summer 2015.

Hosts

The BBC has stated that the hosts for the various FESC 2016 events will be revealed around the same time as the choice for the contest venue in the late fall of 2015.

Semi-finals and final draw

The draw for semi finals will be held on 17 January 2015 and will determine both the draw of the countries between the two semifinals and their position within the semifinal.
