Gandhara participated in the Outernatia Song Contest 23 in Criplulbury, Waticania. Their entry was selected through the joint national final Friendship Fest with Folkloria and Lettuce, organised by the national broadcasters Folk Union Music Broadcaster (FKMTV), Lettuce Broadcasting Corporation (LBC), and Radio and Television of Gandhara (RTG).

During the national final, Zhanar Dugalova was with a 4th place the highest ranked Gandhari entry, receiving the right to represent Gandhara at the Outernatia Song Contest 23 with the Kazakh language song "Ayta Bersin".


Friendship Fest

Friendship Fest is a song contest that served as a joint national final for Folkloria, Gandhara, and Lettuce to select their entry for the Outernatia Song Contest 23. The competition was held on 21 May 2016 in Rhea, Gandhara.

Competing entries

Twelve acts competed in the national final, four from each country. The competing songs and artists were announced on 24 April 2016.[1] The winner was decided by 3 professional juries from different countries and one professional jury with Folklorian, Gandhari, and Lettucian members, who awarded 12, 10, 8–1 points to their 10 favourite songs. "Subliminal Diet" by Charisma.com won for Lettuce, having been ranked first by two of the juries. "Ayta Bersin" by Zhanar Dugalova came 4th and was the highest ranked Gandhari entry.

At Outernatia

All countries, except the host country, were required to qualify from two semi-finals in order to compete in the final; from each semi-final the top ten countries progressed to the final, and an eleventh was determined by the International Jury. On 8 June 2016, an allocation draw was held which placed each country into one of the two semi-finals.[2] Gandhara was placed into the second semi-final, to be held on 22 June 2016.

In the second semi-final, Zhanar Dugalova performed 11th in the running order, following Victoria and preceding Raingate. At the close of the voting "Ayta Bersin" had received 62 points from 9 countries, placing Gandhara 7th of 18 competing countries, and thus the song qualified for the final.

In the final, Zhanar Dugalova performed 12th in the running order, following Oalia and preceding Ivanotia. At the close of the voting "Ayta Bersin" had received 103 points from 19 countries, placing Gandhara 10th of 23 competing countries.
