History

KPR, the public broadcaster for the Lost Islands, has usually held a national final, called Kálitt Lódd Inasiyal (Kalitt Song for Internatia), to determine the Lost Islander entry in the Internatia Song Contest. The Southeastern Song Festival has been held jointly with ChTV (Chruno) and/or RTS (Spitzenbergen) on several occasions to host a Southeastern Song Festival.

As of ISC 38, the Lost Islands have qualified for the final fourteen times of twenty-eight attempts (once as host), with five top 10 finishes:

  • 8th in ISC 11 with Nightwish "Wish I Had an Angel"
  • 3rd in ISC 20 with Enigma "Sadeness (Part 1)"
  • 7th in ISC 24 with Fairyland "A Soldier's Letter"
  • 7th in ISC 31 with September "Cry for You"
  • 1st in ISC 35 with Nightwish "Amaranthe"

One of their final qualifications (Loreena McKennitt with "The Mummer's Dance" in ISC 18) was through the jury qualifier.

For ISC 22, the Southeastern Song Festival was merged with the Gran Festival of Kosmallan for a grand six-nation, 12-song spectacular.

Due to an unfortunate mix-up with the organizers of the East Internatia Festival, the Lost Islands failed to submit an entry to ISC 23 in time and thus did not participate. KPR announced its full intention to vote as part of the International Jury for both semifinals and the final, and did so.

After a 7th place finish in ISC 24 with Fairyland, the Lost Islands have had a tough go since then with three straight non-qualifications.

After a disaster in ISC 28 when Cristophe Willem's "Berlin" was not submitted on time, KPR revamped its participation. KPR announced a new format for KLI that features numerous contemporary songs. This has largely worked, with two qualifications Despite a 20th place in the semi for Cristophe Willem in ISC 30, they have made the final with Paramore in ISC 29 and placed 7th in ISC 31 with September's "Cry for You", which gained the Lost Islands its first ever second place finish in the semi.

This run of good results continued with an 11th place for Katy Perry in ISC 34 and culminated with a victory for Nightwish's return with their song "Amaranthe" in ISC 35.

However, due to the 2015 Lost Islands financial crisis, KPR had to withdraw all support of ISC and its spinoffs. ISC 38 was the Lost Islands' final performance. Their final entry, The Soil Bleeds Black's "Away," placed 17th in its semifinal.

KPR started participation in the ISCC since the beginning, with the exception of the 6th edition. They were disqualified from the 5th edition for failing to vote on time and then failed to submit the paperwork to enter the 6th edition on time. Typically, the second place finisher in KLI (or the second-highest Lost Islander entry in SSF) has represented the Lost Islands in ISCC.

After the failure to submit an entry on time for ISC 28, KPR announced its intent to withdraw from ISCC starting with ISCC 13. A return has not been ruled out, however, but will require consistent organizational ability on the part of KPR in ISC, jISC, and ISC -1.

KPR returned to ISCC 19 with Marie-Mai's "Deja loin," but had to withdraw after ISCC 21.

KPR announced its intent to participate in the inaugural Junior Internatia Song Contest. For its first entry, an internal selection was made and KPR are debating whether to host a small-scale national final (possibly jointly with other nation/nations.) After a lackluster interest in a NF for jISC 2's entry, KPR decided to stay with an internal selection for the future. They did not vote in time for jISC 2 and were thus disqualified. When confirming for jISC 5, KPR announced it had selected entries through jISC 8. The Lost Islands have proven to be an unlikely power in the early contests of jISC, with two second place finishes and four top five finishes in the first seven contests.

However, recent contests have seen a reversal in form, with several bottom-half finishes, including two last-place finishes in jISC 9 and jISC 10. Their best finish since then was a 12th out of 20 in jISC 12 with Shiloh's "It's Not Me."

KPR has been an enthusiastic supporter of the ISC -1 project, but this has not been reflected in good results, with the highest placement in the inaugural contest, a 6th place with Josef Dobzon's "And Lenin is Young Again." Two last place finishes have been more typical of the Lost Islands' placement in this contest, and the Lost Islands have yet to emerge from midtable, doing so only in their final contest, a 2nd place finish for Shocking Blue's "Venus" in ISC -1 #10.

The competition was watched by 29,000 people, a slight decrease from the first Kalitt Song for Internacia.

Styx was drawn fifth in the first semi-final to be held in Pixopolis, Bitland. Unfortunately, they finished 19th with 35 points, not making the final. An estimated 35,000 people watched the semi, and 20,000 people watched the final.

After Bitland Imperial Television was unable to fully present the results, the IBU asked KPR to collect results from participating broadcasters and present them.

Lost Islands in the Internatia Song Contest 11 (Kálitt Lódd Inasiyal 3)

KPR announced a new format for KLI 3, in response to criticism that the contest leaned too heavily towards rock and metal. A number of songs from a variety of genres were commissioned, and 16 songs were unveiled in KLI 3. The songs would compete in a series of single-elimination duels, with a new draw before every round. Nations wishing to vote in KLI 3 were told to rank songs from top to bottom (depending on how many songs were left). Each nation would compare its preference to cast a vote in the duels. Therefore, each voter need only listen to the songs once and vote once.

KPR announced that foreign songs and composers would be welcome to participate in KLI 4.

Nightwish were drawn fifth in the second semifinal of ISC 11 in Amor, Marvelia. They qualified for the final on May 17, adding extra cause for celebration of the Lost Islands' full independence from the Southeastern Federation. Between the two causes, an estimated 20,000 people took to the streets celebrating throughout the weekend.

Nightwish finished in 8th place with 82 points, despite not receiving any points until Lacrea voted 6th of the 31 voters.

Lost Islands in the Internatia Song Contest 12 (Kálitt Lódd Inasiyal 4)

After the huge success of KLI 3, both at home and in attracting ISC fan interest, KPR sought foreign songs and composers to enter KLI 4. Four countries did so:

  • Dulcet Ebullience: Janita - I Miss You
  • Edoriada: Amr Diab - Tamally Maak
  • Irdminia: Emigrate - In My Tears
  • Monteverde: Various Cruelties - Chemicals

These four songs joined the 16 songs selected by a KPR jury. As there were 20 songs, 8 of them were randomly picked to enter the first round, which had only eight songs competing in four duels, with the winners progressing to the second round, which would have 16 songs.

Note: According to KLI rules, odd-numbered tie votes in a given KLI goes to the Lost Islands televote, while even-numbered tie votes go to the song with the most international juries voting for it.

Nino Rota was drawn 19th in the second semifinal. After a joke where Novatlantida was announced as the last qualifier, the flag of the Lost Islands was pulled from the final envelope! Nino was drawn 23rd for the final.

Nino placed 3rd in the semifinal with 96 points, but was a somewhat disappointing 17th in the final with 97 points.

Lost Islands in the Internatia Song Contest 13 (Southeastern Song Festival 1)

As an unprecedented venture between ChTV of Chruno and TVS of Spitzenbergen, KPR hosted the first Southeastern Song Festival. The duels format of KLI 3 and 4 was kept, although each host country submitted four songs to the contest. Consolation duels were held for elimination songs, allowing a full placement from 1st to 12th. The highest placed song from each country will be the representative in ISC 13.

Lost Islands in the Internatia Song Contest 14 (Kálitt Lódd Inasiyal 5)

KPR announced on June 30 that it would revert to the KLI format to determine its ISC 14 entry.

Lost Islands in the Internatia Song Contest 16 (Kálitt Lódd Inasiyal 6)

KPR announced that KLI 6 would be held to determine the Lost Islander entry for ISC 16. On August 2, the 16 songs were revealed. A hybrid duel-NF format was revealed, where countries that voted in earlier rounds had more weight in the four-song final.

Lost Islands in the Internatia Song Contest 17 (Southeastern Song Festival 3)

KPR invited ChTV and RTS to join them for a 3rd renewal of the Southeastern Song Festival, which would be a one-night final with 8 or 12 songs, depending on how many nations joined the Lost Islands. RTS expressed interest in joining this renewal. However, internal debate at ChTV about continuing in the ISC precluded them from joining the renewal.

29,000 people watched the one-night final of SSF 3. Critics and Internet feedback praised the wide variety of songs from both nations and hoped for a return of Chruno to SSF 4.

27,500 people watched Semi 1 of ISC 17, watching Shakespeare's Sister fail to qualify for the final. Semi 2 had an audience of 6,500 and the final an audience of 25,000.

Lost Islands in the Internatia Song Contest 18 (Kálitt Lódd Inasiyal 7)

An embarrassing mix-up at KPR headquarters meant KPR did not submit an entry for Internatia Second Chance Contest 6 in Irdminia. Therefore, in an unprecedented move, Mauli Dave's "Khuda Hafiz" (which would have been the entry) will be allowed to enter KLI 8 or SSF 4 (whichever determines the Lost Islands entry for Internatia Song Contest 19.

KPR decided to showcase the provinces of the Lost Islands in KLI 17, allowing each of the nine provinces to submit a song for the competition. The territories selected two songs -- one representing Romí culture, the other representing the non-Romí inhabitants of the territories.

The Havenian vote was revealed to have 5 and 1 points for Yma Sumac. The 1 point vote was discounted and as the mix-up was not enough to change the winner/second place finisher, KPR elected to proceed with the results show.

34,000 people watched the final, generating a great deal of interest for ISC 18. Loreena McKennitt's "The Mummer's Dance" was selected by a joint Lost Islander-Internatian jury to be the entry for ISC 18 in Kosma. Massive Attack's "Teardrop" was picked as the entry to ISCC 7.

Loreena qualified for the final from Semi Two as the International Jury qualifier (placing 17th among Semi Two voters). 9,500 people watched Semi One. 29,000 people watched Semi Two, and the finals were viewed by 35,000 people. This was viewed with some concern from KPR, as ratings for the semi with the Lost Islands dipped below 30,000 people and the final, despite having the Lost Islands, was viewed by "only" 35,000 people. (By comparison, a typical Saturday night ratings winner will have 8-12,000 people viewing. This is a high percentage of the total Lost Islander population due to a lack of other channels being available via satellite.)

Lost Islands in the Internatia Song Contest 19 (Kálitt Lódd Inasiyal 8)

Mauli Dave's "Khuda hafiz" was permitted immediate entry into the contest, which also included songs that had been eliminated from previous KLI competitions due to the "tied vote in a duel" rule.

Interest in Internatia for this contest was lower, with only four other nations also voting. While KPR has consistently expressed preference for a multi-nation Southeastern Song Festival, debate on whether KLI 9 should be a smaller-scale, 3-5 song final or a 16-song duel format continued.

Iiris Vesik won the ticket to Rosetown while Sarah Brightman & Steve Harley won entry into ISCC 7.

25,000 people watched KLI 8, and 1,000 people signed a petition to RTS and ChTV to encourage them to enter a proposed 4th Southeastern Song Festival.

KPR viewed these results with some concern as they were the lowest viewing figures since KLI 4 (for ISC 12). While the default position is still having a joint NF with the other Southeastern nations, debate regarding the size of KLI -- or whether to do the previously unthinkable and internally select -- is continuing at KPR offices.

Lost Islands in the Junior Internatia Song Contest 1

KPR internally selected Ilona Mitrecey's smash hit "Un monde parfait" for their jISC debut. Plans were made for a national final and an agreement was made with Hanzyuki's TVH to hold a joint national final to determine each country's jISC 2 entry in Tonallan.

Lost Islands in the Internatia Song Contest 20 (Southeastern Song Festival 4)

The wishes of the 1,000 petitioners were granted, as both RTS and ChTV agreed to join KPR in the 4th renewal of the Southeastern Song Festival.

SSF 4 was a huge success in the Lost Islands, garnering 36,500 viewers, an all-time ratings high for a Lost Islands national final.

Enigma with "Sadeness (Pt. 1)" won the overall title and the right to compete for the Lost Islands in ISC 20. While hope were high in the Islands, ISC fan media were quick to remind all that Anabantha had won the first Southeastern Song Festival, only to place last in their semifinal. For once, Lost Islander hopes were fulfilled, as Enigma placed 3rd in both the semifinal and the grand final.

Anais Delva and Natalia Kills were the selected artists from Spitzenbergen and Chruno, respectively.

Lost Islands in the Junior Internatia Song Contest 2 (Venott Inasiyal 1)

A national final jISC, Venott Inasiyal, was created. A general call for co-hosts was issues and Hanzyuki's TVH agreed to appear in Venott Inasiyal 1, which was a four-song, one-night affair to test Lost Islander interest in jISC.

Hanzyuki Laura Omloop "Stapelgek Op Jou" 1 7 8

Hanzyuki sent Femke's song and the Lost Islands sent Little Stevie Wonder.

Due to low interest across Internatia and low ratings domestically, KPR scrapped plans for any future NFs.

Unfortunately, KPR was unable to get votes out in time. Little Stevie Wonder would have placed next to last had KPR voted.

Lost Islands in the Internatia Song Contest 21

The unthinkable happened -- KPR declared that an internal selection would be made. The head of delegation declared that the dancing would be "out of this world" in a small hint, and speculation swirled around what that choice might be. Nonetheless, interest soared among Lost Islanders.

KPR announced that the song would be presented in a special presentation shortly before the IBU's deadline for sending entries.

The song, Danny & Armi's "I Wanna Love You Tender", ended up 25th of 26 in the final, and KPR decided to avoid internal selections in the future.

Lost Islands in the Internatia Song Contest 22

After negotiations with Tevellan (Tonallan's national broadcaster), the Southeastern Song Festival became part of the 10th renwal of El_Gran_Festival_de_Kosmallán, with Luzze as the sixth nation.

KPR submitted two songs, The Weather Girls "It's Raining Men" and Barbra Streisand & Donns Summer "Enough Is Enough." The Weather Girls finished 5th with 97 points, and Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer finished 11th with 65 points. Therefore, "It's Raining Men" was the entry to ISC 22 and "Enough Is Enough" was the entry to ISCC 9.

The head of delegation announced that it would be pouring in Tuscan City. Sadly, this optimism was misplaced, as the Weather Girls only placed 16th in semi 2 with 47 points.

Lost Islands in the Junior Internatia Song Contest 3

KPR internally selected Melody's hit "El Baile del Gorila" for jISC 3. It ended up 9th of 17 participants in the final.

Lost Islands in the Internatia Song Contest 23

KPR announced that any nation wishing to join it for a national final (or that wanted to invite KPR to their own national final) would be welcome, provided the other Southeastern nations were able to also compete. Chruno announced its inability to participate in any joint NF, leaving Spitzenbergen as the only potential partner for a NF.

KPR stated in the absence of a partner for a joint NF, that a 16-song KLI 9 would be held.

RTK, Kaledonii's broadcaster, offered Spitzenbergen and Lost Islands a chance to join them in the inaugural East Internatia Festival, which they gladly accepted -- with 3 songs each to make a 9-song final.

Eluvetie's song "Omnos" would have been the Lost Islander entry for ISC 23 but a failure of communication between RTK, KPR, and TRA (Alexandria, host broadcaster for ISC 23) resulted in the entry not being sent on time.

Lost Islands in the Junior Internatia Song Contest 4

KPR selected Tanya Tucker's "Delta Dawn" for jISC 4. It placed 15th of 21 entries with 51 points.

Lost Islands in the Internatia Song Contest 24 (Kálitt Lódd Inasiyal 9)

KPR announced plans to revive the duels format of earlier KLI competitions and revealed the quarterfinal duel participants.

  • Evanescence "Lies" vs. Lacuna Coil "Enjoy the Silence"
  • Fairyland "A Soldier's Letter" vs. Krypteria "Victoriam Speramus"
  • Paramore "Misery Business" vs. Tverd "The Spring"

Only the Lost Islands voted in the quarterfinals and semifinals.

  • Eleuvetie "Omnos" vs. Evanescence "Lies"
  • 'Fairyland "A Soldier's Letter" vs. Paramore "Misery Business"

The final attracted some interest from Internatia.

  • Evanescence "Lies": Lost Islands (1)
  • Fairyland "A Soldier's Letter": Nicolas' Neighbour, Luzze, Kosma, and Ova Anova (4)

Evanescence was the Lost Islands' representative in ISCC 11 and Fairyland participated in ISC 24.

Fairyland gained the Lost Islands their third top 10 placing, finishing 7th in the final with 130 points with the second-highest viewing figures ever for an ISC final. Evanescence attracted the largest audience ever for an ISCC despite finishing only 13th.

Lost Islands in ISC 27 (KLI 12), ISCC 13, jISC7, and jISC 8

KPR attempted the duel format for KLI 12, attracting little interest.

A four-song national final was held.

  • Mashmakhan "As the Years Go By" (74 points)
  • Rocky Roberts "Django" (68 points)
  • Dengue Fever "1000 Tears of a Tarantula" (59 points)
  • Shirley Bassey "Goldfinger" (58 points)

Mashmakhan fared only marginally better than the Lost Islands' previous two entries, placing 21st with 24 points.

Rocky Roberts placed last of 15 with 20 points in ISCC 13.

KPR sent Little Peggy March to jISC 7 and placed 2nd with 95 points, 2 points behind winners Yazminia.

For jISC 8, KPR send Charlotte Church's "Carrickfergus", finishing 18th of 21 with 40 points.

Lost Islands in ISC 28, ISCC 14, jISC 9, and ISC #1 -1

KPR neglected to stage a national final, and decided to go a radically different route with its second internal selection.

Cristophe Willem's smash hit "Berlin" was selected for ISC 28, and a nine-song, one night final for KLI 13 was announced. Unfortunately, a tragic mixup happened at KPR headquarters, and the song was not sent. As with ISC 23, KPR aired both semifinals and the final. KPR then announced its intention to withdraw from ISCC to ensure a proper commitment could be made to ISC, jISC, and ISC -1.

For ISCC 14, Mauli Dave's song "Khuda hafiz" was selected (it was eligible, having lost previous national finals). The Lost Islands' swan song placed 9th of 19 songs and scored 58 points, the best score for the Islands since ISCC 7.

The jISC 9 entry was New Edition's "Candy Girl". Sadly, the song did not catch on with jISC audiences, placing dead last of 18 with 34 points.

For the inaugural ISC -1, the revolutionary song "The Battle is Going Again (and Lenin is Young Again)" placed a surprising 6th of 17 songs, getting 64 points.

Lost Islands in ISC Congratulations

On 19 August, KPR confirmed participation for the Lost Islands.

They are sending the highest-rated song of the Islands' ISC history, Nightwish with "Wish I Had an Angel."

Its qualification -- the Lost Islands' first ever -- was on the 30th anniversary of independence from the Southeastern Federation. Over 20,000 people took to the streets in celebration (of both causes) that evening.

The final, where Nightwish placed 8th, was the 4th most rated program in Lost Islands history with 40,250 viewers (92% of the potential audience). The announcement of Lost Islands independence (1983), an episode of Northsiders (1988 - through then-amazing technology it allowed a recently-deceased cast member to appear in a final storyline), and the 25th anniversary of independence (2008) all exceeded that share.

98% of potential viewers watched the announcement of independence at some point during the program -- many of the 2% not watching were in the Parliament chambers which at the time was the de facto national performance hall (heavy rains kept everyone indoors).

Despite Enigma placing 3rd and Fairyland 7th in subsequent editions, 89% of KPR viewers selected Nightwish in an online poll between the three songs. It was really no contest at all.

Nightwish advanced to the finals from Semi 2 in 6th place, but was 20th in the final.

Lost Islands in ISC 29, ISC -1 #2, ISC -1 #3, and jISC 10

KPR decided to unveil a nine-song, one-night KLI 13 on 26 September 2014, ensuring KLI's presence on the national final stage.

Like their ISC 28 entry, the songs were all notable for having been released since 2000, highly unusual for any KLI.

  • Paramore “Misery Business” (20)
  • September “Cry for You” (19)
  • School Food Punishment “Light Prayer” (18)
  • Justice “Stress” (15)
  • The Pretty Reckless “Make Me Wanna Die” (11)
  • Ladyhawke “Magic” (11)
  • Yelle “Ce jeu” (8)
  • Caro Emerald “That Man” (6)
  • Valravn “Marsk” (6)

Unfortunately, only Huania joined the Islands in voting. Paramore's "Misery Business" was the winner with 20 points.

Despite the low interest, KPR announced the other songs would be the participants in KLI 14, determining the Lost Islands' entry for ISC 31.

Paramore were drawn in the first semi.

In ISC -1 #2, Survivor placed 10th of 21 songs with "Burning Heart," scoring 59 points.

In ISC -1 #3, Tilahoun Gessesse finished last of 24 with 26 points.

For jISC 10, KPR sent Gayle Welch with her song "Day of Age."

Lost Islands in ISC 30, jISC 11, and ISC -1 4

KPR decided to send Cristophe Willem's song "Berlin" for ISC 30, and got the song off to the Kosmanaut hosts. Unfortunately, the song placed 20th in the semi, failing to qualify.

For jISC 11, KPR will send Brenda Lee's "I Want to be Wanted." She did little better, placing 14th.

For ISC -1 #4, KPR elected to send Bing Crosby and David Bowie's duet, "Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy." They were unfortunately dead last out of 26 entries.

Lost Islands in ISC 31, jISC 12, and ISC -1 5

KPR held KLI 14 to determine its entry for ISC 31. The other eight songs from KLI 13 were the contestants, with Huania and Lost Islands voting already counted. They also announced that the 2nd through 5th place finishers would return for KLI 15, and could return for up to two more times, after which they would be removed from further KLI contests. Gandhara, Dulcet Ebullience, Grolskira, Porielana, and Kaeros Islands also voted.

September set a new best semi finish for the Lost Islands with a 2nd place in semi one and was then 7th in the final with four 12-pointers.

The jISC 12 entry, Shiloh, sent her song "It's Not Me", and placed 12th (the Lost Islands' best finish since jISC 7.

The ISC -1 #5 entry, Kim Jung-mi, placed 12th.

The jISC 13 entry was almost not sent, as KPR was scrambling for ideas. However, a last-minute burst of creativity enabled KPR to prepare entries for jISC 13 through jISC 16. Menudo "Sube a mi moto" was sent.

The ISC -1 #6 entry was from a 1949 Bollywood film -- it was Suraiya with "Tere nainon ne chori kiya".

School Food Punishment placed 20th in semi 2 with only 37 points, failing to qualify for the final. Menudo placed 22nd of 23 entries in jISC 13 with only 10 points. Suraiya did somewhat better, placing 8th of 15 songs and getting 46 points.

Lost Islands in ISC 33, jISC 14, and ISC -1 #7

KPR held KLI 16 to determine its entry for ISC 33. Ingrid Michaelson's "Girls Chase Boys" was disqualified due to another country wishing to use it as its entry.

Lost Islands, Porielana, Lettuce, and Nicolas' Neighbour all voted.

  • Ladyhawke "Magic" (40) - ISC 33 entry
  • Valravn "Marsk" (35) - eliminated (3rd try)

The jISC 14 entry was Vanessa Mae's "Figaro". Unfortunately, she only placed 13th of 15 songs, getting 36 points.

The ISC -1 #7 entry returned to Lost Islander roots with AC/DC's "Big Balls." This placed 15th of 16, getting 22 points.

Ladyhawke sailed to the final, finishing 2nd in semi 1 with 94 points. This strength wasn't repeated in the final, as she was a relatively disappointing 17th with 96 points.

Lost Islands in ISC 34, jISC 15, and ISC -1 #8

KPR held KLI 17 to determine its entry for ISC 34. After the demise of the Gran Festival, this solidified KLI's position as the longest-running national final in ISC history.

Turnout was somewhat higher, with Lost Islands, Porielana, Alteus, Dulcet Ebullience, and Gandhara all voting.

  • Katy Perry "E.T." (48) - ISC 34 entry
  • Wonder Girls "Nobody" (37)
  • Dengue Fever "One Thousand Tears of a Tarantula" (36)
  • OneRepublic "Secrets" (35)

The ISC -1 #8 entry was Ronnie and the Prophets with "Walking Alone."

  • Marie-Mai "Deja loin" - 62 points (ISCC 19 entry)
  • OneRepublic "Secrets" - 56 points
  • Wonder Girls "Nobody" - 56 points
  • Dengue Fever "One Thousand Tears of a Tarantula" - 52 points
  • Armistice "Mission Bells" - 51 points (eliminated)
  • Ozzy Osbourne "Dreamer" - 49 points (eliminated)

Link to results: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1za8qx02xZBi9y36I2T-d2WpcoSDa8XrF4IAB1R5EPX0/edit#gid=738051675

Nightwish surged to victory, winning their semi with 102 points and the contest with 178 points. The ISC 35 final was viewed by 41,000 people, making it the 3rd most watched television program in the history of Lost Islands.

Lost Islands in ISC 36, ISCC 20, jISC 16, and ISC -1 #9

KPR is holding KLI 19 to determine its entry for ISC 36.

  • Kabob-O-Taj "Your Place" (29 points)
  • Dengue Fever "One Thousand Tears of a Tarantula" (3rd try) (26 points)
  • Tom Teasley "Nine Muses" (23 points)

Results: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1za8qx02xZBi9y36I2T-d2WpcoSDa8XrF4IAB1R5EPX0

Due to delays in getting ISCC 19 off the ground, "Deja loin" had the unusual distinction of being the ISC and ISCC entry for Lost Islands.

Marie-Mai did much better in ISCC 19 than ISC 36 -- finishing 3rd of 11 in ISCC 19 with 78 points but a disappointing 25th in semi 2 of ISC 36 with only 29 points.

The jISC 16 entry was Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers with "Why Do Fools Fall in Love?" This too was a disappointment placing 15th of 21 songs with 43 points.

The ISC #1 -9 entry was revealed to be Kati Kovacs with "Nem leszek a játék szered." This did well by comparison, placing 10th of 19 songs with 55 points.

KPR also announced the creation of a unified national final to determine not only ISC/ISCC entries, but also jISC and ISC -1 entries. There will be four songs from the "Open", "Retro", and "Junior" divisions. This will be delayed to determine the entries for ISC 39, ISCC 22, ISC -1 #11, and jISC 18. Entries for ISC 38/ISCC 21/ISC -1 #10/jISC 17 will be internally selected due to KPR focusing on hosting ISC 37.

  • The top finisher will go to the next ISC.
  • The second finisher will go to the next ISCC.
  • The top remaining "Retro" song will go to the next ISC -1.
  • The top remaining "Junior" song will go to the next jISC.

Lost Islands in ISC 37, ISCC 20, jISC 17, and ISC -1 #10

Hosting ISC 37 resulted in an internal selection with Air Supply's "Lost in Love" fitting the theme of ISC 37, with Lost Islands choosing to be "Lost in ... love".

Due to the time constraints of hosting ISC 37, KPR elected to go with internal selections for all contests, including a possible entry for the inaugural Internatian Classical Music Contest.

Unfortnately, Lost Islands finished last in ISC 37 with only 32 points.

ISCC 20's selection was Wonder Girls "Nobody" which had been a regular KLI competitor. They were 14th of 19 participants, gaining 43 points.

jISC 17 saw KPR return to a familiar artist with Little Peggy March "I Wish I Were a Princess". She didn't do as well as she did in jISC 7, finishing 14th of 16 and getting 31 points. Due to the 2015 Lost Islands banking crisis, this proved to be their last entry in jISC.

ISC -1 #10 saw KPR return to rock with Shocking Blue's "Venus." This provided the Lost Islanders with their best ISC -1 result yet, placing 2nd of 18 entries and getting 92 points.

After a scandal in the semifinal results presentation resulted in KPR having to revise the qualifiers for the final (KPR counted the international jury votes as a separate country AND to determine an IJ qualifier), KPR debated their continued presence in ISC, jISC, and ISCC. However, after some debate, KPR decided at an Executive Board meeting to postpone a final decision until after the final results for ISC 37 were presented. While the ISC 37 final went well, the Lost Islands banking crisis precipitated a final withdrawal from the contest after ISC 38.

Lost Islands in ISC 38 and ISCC 21

Due to the time constraint of hosting ISC 37, KPR went with all internal selections for this round of contests.

KPR chose The Soil Bleeds Black and their song "Away" for ISC 38. They failed to qualify for the final, placing 17th with 50 points, bringing an end to the Lost Islands' participation in ISC.

KPR selected Dio's "Rainbow in the Dark" for ISCC 21. Unfortunately, they only finished 22nd, with 28 points.

KPR selected John Lunn's "Downton Abbey: The Suite" for the initial Internatian Classical Music Contest, winning the contest with 19 points (the contest used a 5-3-1 system).

Unfortunately, plans for KLI 21 were scuttled in the wake of the 2015 Lost Islands banking crisis, caused by a failure of LaborBanc which then cascaded through the economy. KPR announced a withdraw from ISC, ISCC, jISC, and ISC -1, intending to return to at least ISC -1 when the financial situation stabilized.

Lost Islands returns to competition

KPR announced first its return to ISC -1, with a goal of then returning to ICMC, then to rejoining the Waiting List for ISC, then to OSC, and finally to ISCC.

The plan started with an entry in ISC -1 #13, with Ros Seresothyea's "Jam 10 Kai Theit." While KPR's return to the ISC world was welcomed, the entry itself was not, placing 15th of 20 songs (46 points.) Yma Sumac did well in the 14th contest, placing 4th of 15 songs and getting 76 points, but Herman's Hermits got last of 18 songs with 31 points. This was the third last place finish for the Lost Islands in ISC -1, but KPR's chairman declared a withdrawal was unthinkable and re-affirmed their strong support for the contest.

The return to ICMC was in the 4th contest, and didn't do much better -- Georges Thill's Christmas song, "Minuit, Chretiens", was 8th of 10 songs. ICMC 5 didn't fare much better for the Lost Islands, with Mladen Franko's "Dangerous A" finishing 7th of 8 songs.

The waiting list was rejoined -- as of ISC 44, Lost Islands was in 9th place on the waiting list despite missing voting in a final.

The OSC return was in the 16th edition, with Jackie Evancho failing to qualify for the final, placing 10th of 16 songs in Semifinal 1 and getting 53 points. Terasbetoni qualified for the final of OSC 17 with "Taivas lyo tulta", placing 7th in semi 1, but the final saw them finish a disappointing 16th of 21 songs. Michael Crawford's "The Music of the Night" was 25th of 27 songs in OSC 18, getting only 19 points. Black Sabbath continued Lost Islands' poor run of results, failing to qualify from semi 1, placing 11th of 15 songs and getting 35 points.

Return to a national final: Kálitt Lódd Onásiyal 1

KLO would determine the Lost Islands' entry in OSC 20, ISC -1 #16, and ISCC 27.

The contest would be eight songs engaging in a number of duels: The top placed song would enter OSC 20. The highest "retro" song (released before 1985) would enter ISC -1. The highest-placing song that remains would enter ISCC 27.
