			==Background==
			In the ten editions prior to ISC 11, Radio Television Kaledonii (RTK) had attempted to participate on one other occasion. The first attempt to participate was in the Internatia Song Contest 10, which was held in Bitland. However, there was widespread opposition towards the chosen entrant, Feça Porços, as she had been embroiled in a scandal involving far-right nationalists. As a result, RTK made the decision to withdraw their support for Porços competing in ISC. As this occurred right before the submission deadline for entries, Kaledonii was forced to wait it out one edition before trying to debut again.

			In the run-up to the Internatia Song Contest 11, RTK held an open call for songs, with a professional jury consisting of members of RTK's Cultural Department going on to choose potential entries for a national final. However, as this call for songs extended very late into the submission period, the decision was made to simply select one song in an internal selection for ISC 11, and to leave the remaining high quality songs for a national final for the 12th edition.

			Ultimately, RTK's Cultural Division chose electropop duo Eva & the Heartmaker, hailing from the northeast of the country, as the Kaledonii entry to ISC 11 on 15 April 2013. Their song "Traces of You" was well received by the public, and peaked at number 1 on the official Kaledonii airplay charts.

			==At ISC==
			Eva & the Heartmaker were drawn into the second semi-final of the Internatia Song Contest, and performed 15th in the running order. Just as they had been well received with the Kaledonii public, "Traces of You" was highly regarded by the Internatian public, placing 6th in the semi-final, and thereby qualifying to the final.
