SCBS was established on 1 September 1958 as '''Nasilea Television Network''' ('''NTVN''') after the [[Jindo-Quenian]] war ended. Lanh Von-ji personally envisioned that the time was ripe for television broadcasting in the DPRJ, but this was not yet to happen. Thus, the NTVN began an 8-year period of preparation for commencement of television broadcasts, with the help of the national government.
