Diyafa (Arabic: ضيافة, Diyafa), officially the Republic of Diyafa (Arabic: جمهورية ضيافة, Jumhūriyyat Diyafa), is an autonomous republic of Gandhara, compromising four main landmasses, and numerous smaller islands. It has a population of around 3.3 million people and its territory covers 50,218 km² (19,389 sq mi).
Etymology
Since the arrival of the first Gandhari settlers, the island group became an important stopover for ships sailing from other continents to Aurora. This led to the nickname Diyafa, which means "hospitality" in Arabic and is part of the honor codes of the Arab culture. If required, even an enemy must be given shelter and food for some days. Poverty does not exempt one from one's duties in this regard. Soon after the first settlements were build, "Diyafa" became the exclusive name for the archipelago.
Politics and government
There were already expeditions to Diyafa in the 19th century. The first attempt to explore the islands was in 1857. In 1887, the first settlements were build, which served as trading points for international trade and a source of food for ships travelling past the islands.
