Gandhari vehicle registration plates are license plates found on Gandhari vehicles.

Appearance

A Gandhari license plate with plate number "745N69-11", which in Arabic reads "11-69N745" from right to left.

The license plate is rectangular in shape and made of aluminium. On the left, there is a 4×10 cm green stripe with the symbol found on the flag of Gandhara, the name of Gandhara written in Arabic (غانذارا), and the country code "GA" in Latin script. The plate number is for private vehicles in black characters on a white background. The white field in the middle contains the first part of the plate number, and the square on the right hand side contains at the top the name of the Gandhari governorate where the car is from in Arabic and below the regional code. On all vehicles two plates have to be present, one in front and the other in rear, except on motorcycles and tractors.

Numbering system

Vehicles registered in Gandhara are assigned to one of the governorates (muḥāfaẓāt). The plate number consists of 8 characters in the format "NNNLNN-XX", where N is an Eastern Arabic numeral, L is a letter in Arabic script and XX is the regional code, consisting of two Eastern Arabic numerals, corresponding to the governorate where the car is registered.
