Gandhara has participated in every Outernatia Song Contest since its debut at the first contest with the song "Libertango", performed by Hiba Tawaji in the Arabic language. Gandhara is only one of the three countries that participated in every edition of the contest, the others being Auspikitan and Lettuce.
Gandhara won the 7th edition of the contest with the song "Aman", performed by Myriam Fares. Due to Fares' win, Gandhara hosted the Outernatia Song Contest 9 in the Minna Theater in the capital city of Rhea. Since the introduction of semi-finals, Gandhara didn't qualify for the final on two occasions. When the semi-finals were introduced during the 13th edition, the group Zaed Naes came last in the first semi-final with their song "Shattiet". The girl group Gülyaru finished 10th with their Uyghur song "Shirinjan" during the second semi-final of the 16th edition, missing the final by 8 points. During the final of the Outernatia Song Contest 15, Mähri Pirgulyýewa received 104 points and a fourth-place finish with her Turkmen song "Aýterek Günterek". It was the country's best result since Myriam Fares' win and the first time Gandhara scored over 100 points.
