The Gafloofen Song Festival is a monthly singing competition held in the country capital of St Olaf.

The contest was founded in June 2014 and is set to be held for the first time on July 2nd, 2014.

Origins

The contest is based on the Sopot Top of the Pop Festival held annually in Sopot, Poland.

Format

The competition is hosted by three presenters of varying genders.

Participants

Artists are invited based on their presence in the Olafslisten Top 8. In case of an artist already having been confirmed the 9th, 10th etc. entry will be eligible for an invitation as well. Artists can only have one entry (solo or featuring) in the competition, but can take part in multiple (back-to-back) editions.

Hosting

The festival is currently limited to the Greater Gafloofen area. The first two editions have been confirmed to take place in the Gafloofen National Indoor Arena, with a capacity of 12,000 and a potential eventual audience of 9,000.

Voting systems

The jury producing 50% of the result consists of 5 females and 5 males. They will be in an age range of 16-25, 26-35, 36-45, 46-55 and 55+. Every jury member produces a full ranking, which will then be converted into a jury ranking based on the average ranking per entry. The other half of the result will be decided by app voting available to the public, in which a song can be approved with a thumbs up. The final tally in this vote produces a full ranking, which will then be converted into a public ranking. The combined vote produces the final result.

Presentation of votes

The result is presented in reverse with the least favourite song receiving 1 point up to the favourite song receiving 16 points. The results are announced separately for both the public vote and the jury vote.
