The Kimmi are the only indigenous people of Kimmystan recognized and protected under the international conventions of indigenous peoples, and are hence the northernmost indigenous people of Outernatia. There are 436,903 Kimmi people living in Kimmystan (7 % of the total population) and all of them live in the region Kimmi. Their traditional languages are the Kimmi languages which is close to the Kimmystanian language. In the modern times, many of the Kimmi people have moved to other parts of Kimmystan, and beside their own region they are mostly found in Gropa and some in Frei in the south of Kimmystan.

Traditionally, the Kimmi have pursued a variety of livelihoods, including coastal fishing, fur trapping, and sheep herding. Their best-known means of livelihood is semi-nomadic reindeer herding in the Kimmi region. Currently about 55% of the Kimmi are connected to reindeer herding, providing them with meat, fur, and transportation. For traditional, environmental, cultural, and political reasons, reindeer herding is legally reserved only for Kimmi people in certain regions of Kimmystan.
