Saint Eva & Lepland first participated in the Internatia Song Contest in the first edition, being one of eight countries to do so. It originally participated under the name Dysprosia.

Saint Eva & Lepland has chosen most of its entries through internal selections, due to a lack of available funds, although a national final called Island Voices has been used occasionally.

Early on in the contest's history, Saint Eva & Lepland generally received favourable results, finishing in the top 10 each time of its first four participations, with the latter two being chosen by the national final. However, the tables would soon turn, as Saint Eva & Lepland would finish third-last and second-last with their next two (internally selected) entries. Following these unfortunate results, SBC revived Island Voices with a new format. This resulted in a victory at the Internatia Song Contest 7, where Saint Eva & Lepland was represented by Slovak singer Kristina with the song "Life is a Game".

Island Voices

Saint Eva & Lepland's song for the third and fourth editions of ISC were chosen through the preselection Island Voices. Each edition of Island Voices had 10 songs participating. The artist and song that won Island Voices represented Saint Eva & Lepland at the next edition of ISC, with the second- and third-placing artists receiving a wildcard to the next edition of Island Voices. Due to SBC budget cuts, Island Voices was not used to select the Leplandian entries for the fifth and sixth editions of the Internatia Song Contest, with these entries being chosen by internal selection.

Due to an almost non-existent music scene, artists from other countries are invited to participate in the NF with a song from their existing repertoire. Jurors representing other countries in Internatia are invited to vote in the NF.

The national final was reintroduced on a smaller scale starting with the seventh edition of ISC, in which six songs would participate and only the runner-up would receive a wild card to the next edition of Island Voices.
