The War of Colinestria is an ongoing military conflict that broke out on 12 November 2013 on the island Carbalia between pro-Colinestria forces, supported by the Democratic People's Republic of Jindalea, and San Remo. Delegations of the San Reman and the Colinestrian government agreed on a ceasefire on 20 December 2013.[1] The ceasefire lasted for almost 8 months, but fighting continued on 6 August 2014 between police services and armed forces from San Remo and several militias from Colinestria and armed forces from DPR Jindalea.[2]

Background

The Colinestrian Empire was an empire in the High Middle Ages that compromised the island Carbalia, several smaller islands and land on the western continent. Carbalia, the administrative, political and military center of the empire, was conquered by the Kingdom of Amadora in 1309.

The Colinestrian people were under the rule of the Kingdom of Amadora and later under the newly formed Kingdom of San Remo for more than 300 years. In 1695 the Kingdom of Tikata defeated the last king of San Remo, Ferdinand III, and San Remo came under the rule of Tikata as a Land of the Kingdom. Tikata only conquered the eastern part of the island Carbalia and made it a region of San Remo under the name East Carbalia. Colinestria became an indepent country as Free State Colinestria, but the state only lasted for thirty years. In 1725 the western part of Carbalia became a Land of the Kingdom of Tikata under the name Colinestria.

After San Remo gained independence from Tikata in 1814, Colinestria became a first-level administrative division of San Remo under the name region of Colinestria. Several attempts to gain independence for the Colinestrian people or to gain more autonomy for the region of Colinestria remained unsuccessful.
