Tashkveny, officialy the Commonwealth of Tashkveny is a sovereign state located in southern Internatia. Its mainland is bordered by Grolskira to the east, the Democratic People's Republic of Jindalea to the south. By sea, Tashkveny has borders with Volnytaria and Holy Kim Jong-Il's After Death Hangug to the north and Kosma and the 1-30 Regions of Sockistan to the east.
Kosma, officialy the Republic of Kosma is a sovereign state located on the northern continent in Internatia. Its mainland peninsula is bordered by the unrecognized rebel state of Anselmsuusonia to the east, and its island portion is bordered in the east by Randomia.

Tashkveny is well known as the most populous state within Internatia, with a population of over 154 million inhabitants, the majority living the industrious north of the country. The capital, Invertulloch (also the largest city), is the most populous, with 23 million living within the city proper, but over 50 million living within Greater Invertulloch. As the concentration of the population is in the north, the sparsly populated southern and eastern areas include mainly farming and market towns, with the occasional city, most around areas rich in natural deposits.
Kosma is well known for having an especially warm relation with the Holy Empire of Tonallán, whose population Kosmanauts consider to have extraordinary taste. In trade, Kosma is most well known for the discovery, development and use of the many types of shale found both along Kosma's extensive coastline, and on shore.

Tashkveny has a mixed history, with no less than 4 countries claiming to have settled in the area first. Nevertheless, it is commonly agreed that the first settlers arrived in 1636. Tashkveny has been directly under the control of Denmark (1645 - 1698), Spain (1698 - 1743), France (1743 - 1835) and the United Kingdom (1835 - 1932).
All of these countries have contributed to the unique culture and mixture of languages found in Tashkveny, although Danish and Spanish remain minority languages in the south and east of the country. English is the most spoken language within Tashkveny, with only around 3% of the population unable to speak the language. French is the second most spoken, with around 10% unable to speak the language. Scots Gaelic is the third, with around 36% of the population unable to speak the language. The majority of the Tashken population is bi-lingual, although it is not uncommon for Tashkens to be tri-lingual, and all of Tashkveny's leaders, both President and Prime Minister, have been able to speak all three. Tashken, despite being a national language, is only spoken by 19% of the population, but still considerably more than Danish and Spanish, at 5% and 11% respectively.

History
Tashkveny has been inhabited for over 1000 years, with the native Tashkens inhabiting the land. The country recieved its name from the native name of the land, Tashkvena, meaning "Resting place", in native Tashken. However, between 1636 and 1645, 5 countries colinized the area: Denmark, England, France, Scotland and Spain. It would be Denmark who would retain control after 1645, and for 53 years, the area was under Danish control. This would change, after the Spanish Uprising, in which the Spanish inhabitiants of the colony revolted against Danish rule. Tashkveny came under the control of the Spanish crown during this year, and would remain so for 45 years. During the Pyrenees War, which lasted 2 years, between 1741 and 1743, the losing country, Spain, had to cede land to France, choosing to give Tashkveny to the French. For 91 years, the French controlled Tashkveny, and its population boomed, from 126,000 in 1743, to 3 million in 1835. A further war between France and the now-United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland would once again move sovereignty of Tashkveny. Now a part of the British Empire, the citizens of the country saw a boom in trade and an Industrial Revolution followed. The population would increase from 3 million to 64 million in the 97 years in which the United Kindgdom controlled the country, due to immigration from various countries, including Spain and Denmark, due to the pre-existing population from those countries residing in Tashkveny.
Tashkveny would be granted independence on November 13, 1932, as the Kingdom of Tashkveny, with the country sharing the Monarch with the countries of the Commonwealth. A growing discontent with the Monarchy in Tashkveny, along with a rising, radical left-wing movement growing amongst the poorest in Tashken society, led to the First Tashken Revolution, in which the army overthrew the democratically-elected government and established the People's Republic of Tashkveny on May 1, 1940, with the Communist Party of Tashkveny being the only political party in the country. Through the use of intimidation and fear, the dictatorship, led by General Brouchard, lasted 50 years, until the Second Tashken Revolution, to overthrow the communist dictatorship.
The present state, the Commonwealth of Tashkveny, was established on September 1, 1990, after 50 years of one-party rule. The first democratic elections led to the Democratic Partys first win. Introducing sweeping reforms during its first term, the country, and those within it, had their lives dramatically changed and would make Tashkveny one of the world's most democratic states.
The current party in power is the Liberal Party, with President Donald Lombard overseeing the state, and Prime Minister Heather Morrison overseeing the government.

Tashkveny's first broadcaster was established during British rule. The TBC (Tashken Broadcasting Corporation) began broadcasting over radio on May 3, 1927, and began television broadcasts on December 1, 1936. The Corporation had 3 radio channels, and three television channels, originally broadcasting in three languages: English, French and Gaelic, with each of the three channels broadcasting exclusively in that language.
During the communist years, things remained the same, although the media was tightly censored to make sure that the people only knew what the government wanted them to.
During the Commonwealth, independent media thrived, and now TTV (Tashken Television), NBC (National Broadcasting Company) and SatTelecom Tashkveny all have channels broadcasting throughout the nation. Of these, TBC and TTV are members of Internatia.
The following channels are available in Tashkveny without Cable or Satellite (Note: Channel dependent on language region.)

1st Internatia Song Contest
TashkenFest was used to decide who would represent Tashkveny at the Internatia Song Contest. The eventual winner, Inna Modja, with her song French Cancan (Monsieur Saint Nitouche), travelled to Spirevo to represent Tashkveny. Unfortunately, during the live show, a mass powercut struck Invertulloch, leaving all mass media affected. Unfortunately, this meant that Tashkveny was disqualified from the contest, but would have came 3rd if voting had taken place. Inna was heard to say: "I am upset by my disqualification, but these things cannot be helped. I'm still happy that I got to represent my nation internationally. Hopefully, I'll get another chance in the future."

For the second participation, TashkenFest was to be brought back, as it had successfully chosen a participant during the last competition. The format, however, was to be changed. A singer would be present from the three most spoken languages in Tashkveny: English, French and Scots Gaelic. However, before the competition could take place, a national disaster occured, in which 254 people were killed. Fearing that such a happy show would be unrespectful, the participant that was chosen was from the French selection. Mylène Farmer will be representing Tashkveny with her song, Pourvu qu'elles soient douces. Tashkveny is hoping that nothing will go wrong with the voting this time, and that this participation will be successful. Mylène was said to have taken her low placing with a pinch of salt, and has announced that she will try again in the future.

For Tashkveny's third participation, the folk group Capercaillie were sent to Territrius to represent the country. It is hoped that they can improve on the result from the last edition. The band were more that thrilled at their top-10 placing, and hope that more songs in the language will compete for Taskveny in the future.
