Michael II (Michael Nicholas Frederick Edward; born 29 August 1954 in Madakia), is the King of Tikata. He succeeded to the throne of Tikata upon the death of his grandfather Ferdinand V on 16 May 1977. The son of the then-heir to throne, Alexander, Duke of Surmetia and of Catherina de Frisen, Michael was born at the Royal Residence in Madakia.
He is closely related to other Internatian monarchs. In 2013, he was considered the most popular leader in Internatia.
Early life
Prince Michael of Tikata was born as first child of Alexander, Duke of Surmetia (1923 – 1967), who was a oldest son of Ferdinand V of Tikata (1894 – 1977) and Queen Maria Louisa of Tikata (née Princess of Saint Eva and Lepland) (1899 – 1991). His mother is Catherina, Duchess of Surmetia (née Catherina de Frisen) (b. 1931). Michael II has younger brother and sister:
- Princess Fabiana of Tikata (b. 1956)
- Oscar, Duke of Medaria (b. 1961)
Reign
On 16 May 1977, Michael became the monarch when his grandfather died.
By longstanding convention, MIchael II has to sign every piece of legislation before it becomes law. As King, his main tasks are to represent the Kingdom abroad and to be a unifying figurehead at home. He receive foreign ambassadors and award honours and medals. He performs the latter task by accepting invitations to open exhibitions, attending anniversaries, inaugurating bridges, etc. Michael II is rarely quoted directly in the press since the government information service made it a condition of interviews that he may not be quoted. This policy was introduced shortly after his inauguration, reportedly to protect him from political complications that may arise from "off-the-cuff" remarks. It did not apply to his son Prince Ferdinand.
Marriage and children
Michael II was married on 22 January 1980 to Countess Cecilia van Groos (b. 1957). They have four children:
- His Royal Highness Prince Ferdinand, Duke of Surmetia, born on 12 April 1982. On 17 November 2012 he married Her Royal Highness Princess Lana of Territrius (b. 1983). They have one son:
- His Royal Highness Prince Oscar of Tikata, born on 1 March 2014.[1][2]
- His Royal Highness Prince Frederick, Duke of Xanita, born on 17 October 1984. On 25 December 2012 he married Her Royal Highness Lidia, Crown Princess of Novatlantida (b. 1986). They have one son:
- His Royal Highness Prince Carlos of Novatlantida and Tikata, born 9 October 2013.
- Her Royal Highness Princess Anna Maria of Tikata, born on 24 November 1985.
- Her Royal Highness Princess Tatiana of Tikata, born on 20 June 1992.
