The United Principality of Raingate and Frostfall, commonly known as the United Principality (UP), Rainfall or Frostgate, is a sovereign state in Outernatia. Lying on the western coast of the Eastern Outernatian mainland, it consists of the two countries: Raingate and Frostfall, shares land borders with Almarania, Gandhara, Háttųka, Lettuce and Bitland and is bordered by the Artemitic Sea in the west.
The United Principality is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary system of governance. Its capital city is Solitude, an important global city and financial centre with an urban population of 1.5 million. The current monarch—since 23 June 2016—is Prince Louis Tomlinson.
The 2016 Act of Union declared that the principalities of Raingate and Frostfall were "United into One Principality by the Name of the United Principality ". Although the United Principality, as a sovereign state, is a country, Raingate and Frostfall are also regarded as countries and sovereign states in their own right. The phrase "countries within a country" is often used to describe the United Principality. The adjective Rainfallen is commonly used to refer to matters relating to the United Principality. The term has no definite legal connotation, but is used in law to refer to UP citizenship and matters to do with nationality. People of the United Principality use a number of different terms to describe their national identity and may identify themselves as being Rainfallen; or as being Raingatian, Frostfallen; or as being both.
