The I Gafloofen Song Festival was the 1st edition of Gafloofen Song Festival. The contest was created as a national festival for light entertainment and music in St Olaf by its national broadcaster JHTV. Jennifer Stokka (Jennife Stokka), Lois Rindal (Lois Indal) and Mikel Unhjem were announced as hosts on June 6th, 2014. Abraham Lydersen (Abaham Lydesen) was hired as executive producer on June 6th, 2014.
The show started at 20:15 and finished at 22:30 GMT+3. The show reached a peak audience of 437.508 viewers. 261.273 voters registered on the voting app to determine half of the result. The contest ended in an ex aequo in which the audience vote takes preference. The contest was won by Faul/Wad Ad & Pnau with the song "Changes" tallying a total of 24 points.
Location
The venue for the festival was confirmed on June 6th, 2014 as the Gafloofen National Indoor Arena. The venue has a capacity of 12,000 with a potential eventual audience of 9,000. Tickets went on sale on Olavbillet.ov on June 10th, 2014 and were reportedly sold out in an hour.
Format
The 1st edition of the Gafloofen Song Festival will consist of a final concert on July 2nd, 2014. Artists are invited based on their presence in the Olafslisten Top 8. Four artists are invited on June 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th. In case of an artist already having been confirmed the 9th, 10th etc. entry will be eligible for an invitation as well.
The first four artists to be confirmed on June 5th, 2014 were Ed Sheeran, MKTO, Clean Bandit & Jess Glynne and Milky Chance. On June 12th, 2014 Bastille, Seinabo Sey, Faul/Wad Ad & Pnau and Mr. Probz were added to the line-up. Disclosure & Sam Smith, Martin Tungevaag, Rixton and Jason Derulo & Snoop Dogg were added to the line-up on June 19th, 2014.
The jury producing 50% of the result consisted of 5 females and 5 males. They were in an age range of 16-25, 26-35, 36-45, 46-55 and 55+. Every jury member produced a full ranking, which then was converted into a jury ranking based on the average ranking per entry. The other half of the result was decided by app voting available to the public, in which a song could be approved with a thumbs up. The final tally in this vote produced a full ranking, which then was converted into a public ranking. The combined vote produced the final result.
Running order
The draw for the running order for the 1st Gafloofen Music Festival was held on June 24th, 2014. The draw was hosted by Jennifer Stokka, who will function as the main host of the final show on July 2nd, 2014.
