Canedonia is located in North-Eastern Internatia. This newly formed country is growing rapidly. The mainland focuses on building business, while the 5 islands main income is from tourism.
Geography
Canedonian landscape varies throughout the territory. Most of the northern portions are covered in dense forests. The North-east part of Canedonia readily has vegetation, as the area is mostly a desert. The coastline is mostly sand beaches, though parts of it involve rocky coastlines and vegetation. Canedonia's highest peak is Soufriere Thor and it is 1979 meters tall. It is the only active volcano in Canedonia.
Soufriere Thor
Soufriere Thor is an active volcano that formed as a result of an oceanic plate subducting into the continental plate. The volcano posses no great treat to the people, though constant monitoring in the Canedonian center of Volcanology is attained. The lava is mostly andesitic. Occasional crystals of elongated hornblende are found within andesites from Soufriere Thor. Those crystals can tell a lot about the cooling history of the andesite, as well as the nature of the magma within the volcano. The Volcanology center has reported minor carbon dioxide releases from the volcano in the past couple of years, which has not been considered as a threat.
Natural Resources
Canedonia is a land full of natural resources. Since Canedonia exports raw diamonds, the North-Eastern parts of the country have many kimberlite pipes, where they mine diamonds. A notable mine is the Pegasus mine, that has the largest resources and reserves in the country. Gold and beryl are also mined in Canedonia. The use of beryl is primarily for beryllium, but also for gems. Aquamarine and emerald gems can be mined in the El Dorado mine. Tungsten is another mineral that is being mined in Canedonia, as its use is very important. Tungsten is being mined from the minerals wolframite and scheelite.
Fauna
Canedonian fauna is quite diverse. Various of amphibians, reptiles and mammals can be found throughout the country. Most of the snakes have been exterminated, due to the alarming number of deaths by venomous snakes. However, the Biochemistry laboratory in Palace City keeps many poisonous snakes and uses their venom for research. Animals such as deer, antelopes, rabbits, foxes, red wolves, cheetahs, wild cats, tamarins, flamingos, falcons and scarlet ibises are the most notable species.
