Kaledonii participated for the third time in the Internatia Song Contest 13, held in Siegeslinde, Spirevo. Budget cuts following the organization of the Kaledonii Song Festival 01 meant that RTK was unable to hold another edition of the festival so soon after the 1st edition. As a result, the broadcaster approached one of Kaledonii's best-selling artists of all time, Lisa Gerrard, and asked her to represent the nation in the Internatia Song Contest.
Gerrard accepted RTK's request, and went onto sing her haunting etheral song, "Now We Are Free", in Spirevo. While the singer placed only 22nd in the ISC 13 final, her song is still one of the best-selling singles of all time in Kaledonii, and is considered by many to be the best Kaledonii entry ever sent to the Internatia Song Contest.
Background
After the Kaledonii Song Festival 01 concluded on 16 May 2013, the Kaledonii Head of Delegation for the Internatia Song Contest, Ján Dobrovodský, was informed by RTK's Main Board that newly announced budget cuts would prevent the broadcaster from holding another edition of the festival so soon after its most recent organization. As a result, the decision was made to select Kaledonii's entry to ISC 13 internally, to save money.
Since there was a large amount of interest for the Internatia Song Contest in Kaledonii at the time, RTK decided to ask Lisa Gerrard, one of the nation's highest-selling artists, if she was interested in representing the nation in the international contest. Luckily for the broadcaster, Gerrard was a fan of the contest, and accepted their proposal. She opted to sing her recently released single, "Now We Are Free" in the contest. Within hours of the song being released for digital download, Gerrard was at the top of the Kaledonii charts; she would remain at this position for ten weeks, and "Now We Are Free" would become the highest selling single of 2013 in Kaledonii.
At ISC
Lisa Gerrard was drawn to perform twenty first in the second semi-final of the Internatia Song Contest. Similar to the previous edition, "Now We Are Free" failed to capture the hearts of the Internatian voters quite like how it had the Kaledonii public. Gerrard just managed to qualify to the final, placing 11th in the semi-final with 56 points. In the final, Internatia's apathy towards "Now We Are Free" became more apparent as high points – a 12 points – came solely from Alexandria; Lisa Gerrard placed 22nd in the final with only 53 points. This would be Kaledonii's lowest placing in the ISC finals until ISC 20, as well as Kaledonii's last qualification to the final until ISC 17.
