M FEST is a music competition organised by Raingatian public broadcaster Raingate Television (RTV). It determines the country's representative for the Outernatia Song Contest, and has been staged almost every edition since the 13th. Since its inception, the competition has been the most popular television programme in Raingate. It is also broadcast on radio and the internet nationally and internationally. The finals have averaged 6.1 million viewers in Raingate, almost half of the country's population. M FEST is also used to select Raingate's entries in the Internatia Second Chance Contest.

Format

The competition generally consists of 2 rounds with 4 competitors in each. The 2 acts with the highest amount of points in each round advance to the final round. An act that did not qualify is also selected as a "wild card" finalist. The final round will then see the 5 remaining acts compete for the most votes. The act with the most votes in the final round goes on to represent Raingate in the Outernatia Song Contest. One of the non-winning acts is also selected to represent Raingate in the Internatia Second Chance Contest.
