Raingate (Japanese: 雨門, Amemon), officially the Principality of Raingate (Japanese: 雨門公国, Amemon Kōkuni), is a country located in Outernatia. It is bordered by Lettuce in the north, by Gandhara in the east and by Háttųka in the south. It has a population of around 10.5 million people and its official language is English. The capital and largest city is Solitude.

Politics

Raingate is sovereign state run under a constitutional monarchy. Prince Louis Tomlinson is the head of state of Raingate and is joined by his husband Prince Harry Tomlinson. The monarch has "the right to be consulted, the right to encourage, and the right to warn".

Raingate has a parliamentary government based on the Westminster system, a legacy of the British Empire. The parliament of Raingate meets in the Royal Chambers of Solitude, Princeland and has two houses: an elected Peoples House and an appointed Lords House. All bills passed are given Royal Assent before becoming law.

The position of prime minister, Raingate's head of government, belongs to the person most likely to command the confidence of the Peoples House; this individual is typically the leader of the political party or coalition of parties that holds the largest number of seats in that House. The prime minister chooses a cabinet and its members are formally appointed by the monarch to form the government of Raingate. By convention, the Prince respects the prime minister's decisions of government and has rarely overruled laws passed through the houses.

The cabinet is traditionally drawn from members of the prime minister's party or coalition and mostly from the Peoples House but always from both legislative houses, the cabinet being responsible to both. Executive power is exercised by the prime minister and cabinet. The current Prime Minister is Karen Brady, who has been in office since Raingate's formation on 18 July 2015. Brady is the leader of the Labour and Liberal Alliance Party. For elections to the Peoples House, Raingate is currently divided into 10 regions, each electing a single member of parliament who is then appointed Leader of the region by simple plurality. General elections are called by the monarch when the prime minister so advises. The Parliament Act 2015 requires that a new election must be called no later than five years after the previous general election.

The Labour and Liberal Alliance Party is Raingate's main political party and represents the Raingatian traditions of socialism and social liberalism. Other main parties include The Peoples Socialist Party and the Asian Front.

Administrative divisions

Raingate is divided in to 10 regions each governed by a leader, who is appointed through the mutual agreement between the Price and prime minister of Raingate. Each region is run by local governments which are in turn governed by the Parliament of Raingate in Solitude. These local governments work on local matters within their region and serve as intermediaries between the main parliament region leaders.

'Princeland

Princeland is largest and most populous region of Raingate and is home to the monarchy, parliament and Raingate's capital city of Solitude. It is led by Prime Minister Karren Brady.

Sunshine Coast

Sunshine Coast covers the majority of Raingate's coastline and is a popular tourist destination because of this. It's leader is Zac Efron who champions expansive economic development along Raingate's coast.

Florem

Florem Region lies in the south of Raingate and is most known for it's abundance of various fauna, many flower fields and productive wine and perfume industries. It is lead by Deborah Meaden who is one of Raingate's largest economic investors.

Cambria

Cambria Region lies in the north-west of Raingate and is popularised for the Victorian architecture found in most of it's major cities. The capital Breton in particular features many buildings of older-day architecture and exemplifies a rich history. It's leader is Tom Daley who is a keen advocate of Raingate's historical values.

The Vale

The Vale region covers the area of central Raingate. It is famous for being a place where nature and urbanisation can co-exist and it sports many forested areas and sprawling urban areas. It is led by Michelle Visage who is considered to be the voice of equality and tolerance in Raingate; she is always willing to fight for the rights of Raingate's people.

Blackreach

Blackreach region is located in the north of Raingate and features a high density of Raingate's Asian population. In the capital of Dawnstar in particular, street signs are written in English, Japanese and Korean; many Asian restaurant's and markets are dotted around the city and J-Pop and K-Pop music is extremely popular throughout the region. The region is led by Yunho Jung who is closely affiliated to the Asian Front political party and is championed as the voice for Raingate's Asian minority population.

Geography

Climate

Raingate has a temperate climate, with plentiful rainfall all year round. The temperature varies with the seasons rarely dropping below −15 °C or rising above 38 °C. The prevailing wind is from the south-west and bears frequent spells of mild and wet weather from the Ocean, although the eastern parts, particularly High Rock and The Rift regions, are mostly sheltered from this wind since the majority of the rain falls over the western regions the eastern parts are therefore the driest. Continental windstreams however bring hot summers and mild winters to the western regions of Sunshine Coast, Florem and Cambria. Whereas these windstreams bring milder summers and colder winters to the eastern regions of Winterhold, High Rock and The Rift. High Rock is particularly prone to significantly cold winters due to the mountainous terrain shielding the warmer oceanic wind streams. Summers are warmest in the south-east of Raingate, particularly in the regions of Sunshine Coast and Florem, the former of which is a popular tourist destination. Heavy snowfall can occur in winter and early spring on high ground, and occasionally settles to great depth away from the hills. Winterhold region is notorious in regards to fallen snow taking an excessive amount of time to clear due to the regions expansive and low lying ground.

Economy

Transport

A radial road network totals 29,145 miles of main roads, 2,173 miles of motorways and 213,750 miles of paved roads. The R1, encircling Solitude, is one of the largest and busiest bypass systems in the world.

Raingate has a railway network of 10,072 miles. Raingate Rail owns and manages all the infrastructure of the rail network as well as operating passenger trains that carry over 12,000 passenger trains daily. There are also some 1,000 freight trains in daily operation. The Eastern Metro is considered to be one of the most expansive metro systems in the world as is covers an area that serves the regions of Princeland, Sunshine Coast, Florem and Cambria. The Overground Rail network covers the majority of the country and serves all major towns and cities.

The three largest airports in Raingate are Solitude Airport, McQueen Airport and Azure Bay Airport. Solitude International Airport, located 15 miles east of the capital, has the most international passenger traffic of any airport in the Eastern Outernaian mainland and is the hub for the Raingate flag carrier Raingate Airways.

Raingate participates in the Outernatia Song Contest from the thirteenth edition onwards. The National Selection for Raingate is the Raingate Music Festival, popularly know as M FEST held by the national broadcaster, RGTV.
