Semi-Final 1 proceeded without any difficulties, and the three qualifiers were announced as expected. SBC ceased transmission approximately thirty minutes into Semi-Final 2, just after the final song had been performed. Initially this was blamed on a "broadcasting error", and voting proceeded as normal. Later it emerged that SBC had failed to obtain the correct permissions from The Walt Disney Company to use the songs, and was being sued. The matter was settled out of court.
The results of the national final (aside from the three Semi-Final 1 qualifiers) were never released. However, it is known that Saint Eva & Lepland and Irdminia voted in both semi-finals, and Dinokratys & Shrikidai and Tonallán voted in the first semi-final.
After the lawsuit was publicly announced, SBC internally chose Sieneke with her song "Amore fantastico" as a last-minute substitute. Negative publicity surrounding the lawsuit, as well as lack of promotion, were blamed for Saint Eva & Lepland's first non-qualification; however, some critics said that the song was not an appropriate choice for the Internatia Song Contest.
