Gandhara participated in the Outernatia Song Contest 13 in Campina Luminosa, RC Laranjeiras. Their entry was selected through the national final Nights of Gandhara, organised by the Gandhari broadcaster Radio and Television of Gandhara (RTG).[1]

Zaed Naes won the national final and represented Gandhara with the Arabic language song "Shattiet".

Nights of Gandhara

Nights of Gandhara is a song contest that served as Gandhara's national final to select their entry for the Outernatia Song Contest 13. The competition was held on 5 August 2015 at the Minna Theater in Rhea and was presented by Taim Hasan.

Competing entries

Five acts competed in the national final. The competing songs and artists were announced on 28 July 2015.[2] The winner was decided by 4 professional juries from different countries, who awarded 12, 10 and 8 points to their 3 favorite songs. There was a tie between Zaed Naes and Karlf Band, as both "Shattiet" and "Susanna" received 32 points. This necessitated a 'count-back', a tie-breaking measure. Both songs received votes from three countries, but "Shattiet" received 12 points from two countries, while "Susanna" received 12 points from one country, and therefore "Shattiet" was declared the winner.

At Outernatia

All countries, except the host country, were required to qualify from two semi-finals in order to compete in the final; from each semi-final the top nine countries progressed to the final, and a tenth was determined by the International Jury. The Outernatian Broadcasting Union (OBU) split up the competing countries into two different pots based on voting patterns from previous contests, with countries with favourable voting histories put into the same pot.[3] On 14 August 2015, an allocation draw was held which placed each country into one of the two semi-finals. Gandhara was placed into the first semi-final, to be held on 8 September 2015.

In the first semi-final, Zaed Naes performed 7th in the running order, following Grolskira and preceding Monteverde. At the close of the voting "Shattiet" had received 23 points from 5 countries, placing Gandhara last of 16 competing countries.
