All countries, except the host country, were required to qualify from two semi-finals in order to compete in the final; from each semi-final the top nine countries progressed to the final, and a tenth was determined by the International Jury. On 18 October 2015, an allocation draw was held which placed each country into one of the two semi-finals. Gandhara was placed into the first semi-final, to be held on 10 November 2015.
In the first semi-final, Mähri Pirgulyýewa performed 9th in the running order, following [[Waticania in the Outernatia Song Contest|Waticania]] and preceding [[Grolskira in the Outernatia Song Contest|Grolskira]]. At the close of the voting "Aýterek Günterek" had received 37 points from 6 countries, placing Gandhara 16th of 17 competing countries. However, the International Jury ranked "Aýterek Günterek" first, and thus the song qualified for the final.

Gandhara participated in the Outernatia Song Contest 15 in Mirabella, Victoria. Their entry was selected through the national final Nights of Gandhara, organised by the Gandhari broadcaster Radio and Television of Gandhara (RTG).[1]

Mähri Pirgulyýewa won the national final and represented Gandhara with the Turkmen language song "Aýterek Günterek". At the Outernatia Song Contest, "Aýterek Günterek" finished 4th in the final, receiving 104 points and full marks from three countries. This was Gandhara's best result since Myriam Fares' win in the 7th edition.
