Hosting Information
Location
On 6 December 2015, Kimmystanian Broadcaster announced that it had chosen Nordfjord as the host city for the contest. The contest will be held held at the Nordfjord Opera House, which hosted several editions of the Kimmystanian national preselection Kimmystan NF. It has an overall capacity of approximately 18,500 people.
Nordfjord
Nordfjord is the capital city of Kimmystan and is located in the Fjorden-region in the northern part of Kimmystan. Nordfjord is an important global city and financial centre with an urban population of 2.1 million. Most of the country's embassies can be found in this city. Both the region and the city is known for it's beautiful fjords and breathtaking landscape, and in the city you can eat traditional Kimmystanian food like bacalao, fish & chips and whale meat, of which the latter is a real Kimmystanian delicatesse.
This is the first time that the city is hosting the Outernatia Song Contest, but it has previously hosted the Junior Internatia Song Contest 18.
Bidding phase
Two other cities, Huttiheita and Fettevika, were also considered as possible host city of the contest. KimmiTV requested proposals from the three cities concerning how they plan to organise the contest. Huttiheita offered to host the contest in the Huttieheita Culture Center, while Fettevika offered the Fettevika Arena as a potential venue for the contest. The bid from Fettevika came together with plans to expand and upgrade the facility and surrounding infrastructure to meet the requirements set by host broadcaster KTV. The bids from Huttiheita and Fettevika, together with the bid from Nordford to host the contest in the Nordfjord Opera House, were accepted. KTV chose the Nordfjord as the venue to stage the contest because they wanted the contest to be held in the capital city.
Presenters
On 26 December 2015, KTV announced that Khadja Nin and Nicole Sabouné would be the hosts of the contest.[1] Khadja Nin came 6th in the 13th edition while Nicole Sabouné won the 15th edition. Both presenters speak fluently English and French.
Nicole Sabouné will not only be hosting the contest, but she will also open the show with her winning hit "Lifetime" and she will also perform some other songs in the interval act of the Final. Khadja Nin will also perform her touching song "Mama" in the Semi-final 1, while KimmiTV has asked Claire de Lune to perform her beautiful entry "Skipping Stones" in the Semi-final 2.
Graphic design
On 8 December 2015, KimmiTV (with help from LBC Resources) released the logo for the Outernatia Song Contest 17, together with the slogan.[2] The logo features a snowflake, a sun and a dove which represents the peaceful nation which Kimmystan is. The slogan was revealed to be "freedom." and for each nation there was made a snowflake with their national colors. The snowflakes represent that each nation in both Internatia and Outernatia are unique and different, but together we live in peace and harmony.
Participants
This edition 35 countries confirmed their participation, including the returns of Dalmadria (after a 12-editions break), Dulcet Ebullience, Hanzyuki, Polland, RC Laranjeiras and Zephyrus. Kitlantis will debut in the contest, while Rutshina will be invited as this edition's guest nation from Internatia, while Cytrus, DPR Jindalea, Irlandia, Pen Island, Rascia, Sofós and Sunetti withdrew from this edition.
Invitation of Ruthsina
Kimmy TV announced that it had invited Ruthsina to participate in the contest. Although Ruthsina is officially not eligible to enter, as only Outernatian countries can take part, the Kimmystani broadcaster proposed the participation of Ruthsina as a one-off event in honour of the strong ties between Ruthsina and Outernatia.
