Valdron made their debut in the 23rd edition of the Internatia Song Contest - which was held in Dalistra, Alexandria - alongside Bubblique and Huania. The nation has entered the contest on 102 occasions and continues to participate to this day, placing it 19th in the current roster in terms of participations. It has participated in every edition since its debut, except from the 36th and 66th editions. Valdron has a generally good voting record, though it has been disqualified in the semi-finals for invalid or non-existent votes on three occasions.

Upon its debut in 2014, Valdron's entries were largely conventional in terms of genre and sonic palette, though showed a limited degree of versatility within the realms of pop music. Soon after returning from its withdrawal in the 36th edition, Valdronian entries began to gradually shift further left-of-field, though the nation was still more comfortable in the field of pop. This less palatable approach to its entries has continued to develop throughout the nation's contest history, and Valdron has thus been recognised by numerous nations as having carved an individual, distinct sound for itself. In more recent editions Valdron has embraced experimentalism not only in some of its entries themselves, but also in song choice, at times vaulting from predominantly inaccessible genres to conventional pop songs in the space of merely an edition. Linguistically, the majority of Valdron's entries are performed in English though they have also sent songs in numerous world languages as well as a few instrumental compositions.

In terms of success, Valdron is currently one of the oldest participating nations to have not won the contest, behind Eriod and Spitzenbergen, and is statistically the most successful nation still participating without a win. Despite not winning, it has hosted the contest on one occasion - the 102nd edition - after the top two of the 100th edition turned down hosting rights. Since its debut, Valdron waited three years to record a podium result, eventually coming 2nd in the 63rd edition which is the nation's best result alongside a later 2nd place in the 127th edition. The nation has finished in the top five 9 times, the top ten 23 times - corresponding with around a fifth of its total participations - and the upper half of the final in over half of its final appearances. Valdron's qualification rate is roughly 50%, and has maintained this rate throughout much of its contest history.

Valdron has been placed in Pot 1 since the 25th edition, after initially being in Pot 2 the edition before, and has not moved pot since. For much of its early history, Valdron was a marginal Pot 1 member due to its voting patterns being more friendly to pop entries, as well as largely adhering to the genre itself. However, Valdron has since grown to become not only synonymous with Pot 1, but a secure and staple member of the pot as Valdron's entries became staunchly unconventional, likewise with their votes.
