Aonach made their debut participation in the Internatia Song Contest 12 in Platonia, Novatlantida. The Aonachian entry was selected through an internal selection, organised by the Aonachian broadcaster Radio-Télévision de la République Aonach (RTVRA). Sylwia Grzeszczak represented Aonach with the song "Karuzela", which qualified from the first semi-final, and placed a very respectable 4th in the final.

Background

Aonach debuted at the Internatia Song Contest in the 12th edition. Radio-Télévision de la République Aonach (RTVRA) announced in May 2013 that it was considering entering the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in the 12th edition, depending on the budget announced for the broadcaster's summer programming, as well as the reception amongst Aonach's population.

RTVRA, officially announced its participation at the Internatia Song Contest 12, held in Platonia, Novatlantida in early June 2013. A public poll that was made on the broadcaster's official website saw that 86% of the population were in favour of debuting in the contest, and a healthy budget awarded to the broadcaster played a part in encouraging the nation to debut in the contest.

Internal Selection

RTVRA selected the Aonachian entry through an internal selection. Numerous rumours surrounded the announcement, and famous local singers such as Shy'm, Gabi Tóth and Saša Kovačević were speculated to have applied to represent the nation. However, RTVRA quashed these rumours by announcing young singer Sylwia Grzeszczak as the very first Aonachian representative at ISC. This was confirmed in June 2013 by an official press conference held by RTVRA. The song Karuzela was chosen as Grzeszczak's song and is a mid-tempo pop/rock song that received very positive reviews from music critics in the nation, as well as abroad.

At ISC

During the semi-final allocation draw in Platonia, Aonach was drawn in the first semi-final on the 19th of June 2013. It was decided that Aonach would perform 20th in the running order, following Marvelia and preceding West Bombo. Aonach qualified from the semi-final on their debut entry and competed in the final on the 1st of July 2013. During the winner's press conference for the first semi-final qualifiers, Aonach was allocated to compete in the opening slot of the final.

At the contest, Sylwia Grzeszczak performed her song completely in the Polish language. On stage, she appeared in a black and white dress sitting with a piano at the very beginning. Once the chorus began, she was joined by 3 male dancers in black outfits, as well as two female backing singers.

During the voting, Grzeszczak led the field for a long period of time. However, she eventually faded from the lead and ended up in 4th position, with 141 points. This was 12 points behind the winning song from Luzze, "Never Forget". Despite missing out on a top 3 position, RTVRA were extremely satisfied with Grzeszczak's result, as well as Aonach's debut result, and viewing figures were reported as high as 6.9 million during the voting.

Sylwia Grzeszczak returned home to a huge crowd at Láírge International Airport, and reported that taking part in the contest was one of the best decisions she has ever made in her young career.
